Building Expansion

---------

After the completion of the parking lot project, earth was soon on the move again at St. Luke's.  Dump trucks filled land directly behind the church so that plans for a new fellowship, Christian education and office building could go forward.

In light of the congregation's support for the ministerial ambitions represented by the project, church leaders signed a loan with First Citizens Bank in August 2004 so that the new building could get underway .

The congregation rallied together in fund raising and other efforts to support the project.  By the time of the building dedication in November 2005, nearly half a million dollars had been raised.

Groundbreaking Service

On November14th, 2004, St. Luke's held a groundbreaking service as part of Sunday morning worship to officially kick off construction of the church's new building.  SC Synod Bishop David Donges preached and a covered dish lunch followed the services.

This new structure will greatly enhance the ministry opportunities and capabilities at St. Luke's.  The building includes a large fellowship area and kitchen, as well as additional classroom and office space.

Taking part in the groundbreaking (from left to right) were: Rev. Henry Brandt (St. Luke's Pastor Emeritus), Rev. Art Hallman (St. Luke's Pastor), SC Synod Bishop David Donges, and Rev. Delano Ricard (St. Luke's Visitation Pastor).
